Thanks so much for checking on that for me. I've got Ancestry, so I found what you were mentioning. I'm hanging on to that service number--glad Ancestry has those files, but really wanting the full history on where my father-in-law served. I have some of the posts he was assigned to, from letters he wrote home (that I'm posting on my blog), but there are a lot of gaps...for instance, my copy of his original orders had him directed to the Atlantic arena, but then he ended up in the Pacific. It's stuff like that that Ancestry has yet to pick up on, and that I'm hoping to find in his personal military history through NARA.
