There is a Fred E Baker b. 1918 Nat: North Carolina enlistment: 22 Aug 1944 Res: North Carolina Enlist: South Carolina. On the NARA ADD enlistment it has Res as Catawba County NC.
My grandfather's middle initial is incorrect in this database and this seems closer match then the other.
There is a newspaper Article in the Statesville Daily Record (NC) dated March 14, 1945 A Headquarters Group of Richmond Army Air Base requested a photo of a Bonita Granville. The group's spokesman a "Sgt Alfred Baker" sent a telegram back after receiving it.
Now I decided to find all three in 1930 census and they seem to be all there. A Clayton E Baker age 11 in an orphanage with older brother in Nash County NC. Three Fred Baker(s), one a Fred E age 11 in Caldwell Co NC and yours listed as Alfred J. Baker in Hoke County (parents Alfred C and Bettie).
