Cousin Woody,
Without a photocopy of your father's Discharge Documents in hand (regardless of the quality) it is difficult for me to provide you additional FACTS. In my opinion, your father may have been assigned to another unit & came home with the 156th Port Company.
Could the Co. which is a studied guess be a GO (General Order)? The 156th did not serve in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater (PTO) so there may have been three different units that your father was assigned to.
If you would be so kind as to provide me with ALL the dates, horizontally, in Box #36, that may help with additional research for FACTS.
