Hello Rachel. Are you sure you're looking in the correct records? If he was listed as a "disabled soldier" at the time of his son's birth in 1922, he was no doubt a WWI veteran, and perhaps was not a veteran of WWII, no? There are some contacts for British vet groups available at this web page:
