Hello, Betty. There are a number of resources available online. If you do a Google search for "researching veterans" you will get a number of useful hits. Here are three of those:

http://www.cbi-history.com/records_request.html

http://www.wwjohnston.net/dadswar/

The first is probably the place for you to start. If his records were not lost in the 1973 fire, you should be able to get what you want there.
