Hi Betty, Knowing that Jesse Whitaker enlisted in 8-16-44, and with training and taking a ship to the pacific, i would think he didn't get into action, maybe at the tail end for the battle for Leyte, where the 7th Division and i think it was the 96th ID fought until the end of Dec. If not, then on Dec. 15th 1944 the US troops invade Mindoro, Philipinnes. Then on Jan. 9th 1945, the US 6th Army invade Luzon in the Philipinnes. On March 10th 1945 the US 6th Army invaded Mindanao, Philipinnes. Then on April 1st 1945, the US Army and Marine troops invade Okinawa, these are the army division that fought on Okinawa, the 27th,77th,81st,96th and the 7th Infantry Division, which my father was in. So Jesse Whitaker would of been in one of these army Division that i have mentioned. Are there any pictures of Jesse in uniform, maybe it would show a division patch that was worn on the uniform.

James
