"Do you have more or know where I can find more information?" You may obtain more FACTS from the unit histories of the 3rd Infantry Regiment. Most of the 20-plus histories are titled "The Old Guard."
Yes, the 3rd Infantry Regiment was assigned to other units during WW 2. The numerical designation of those units are listed in the unit histories.
