Bunce, Roy - Royal Navy Indian Ocean

Whether anyone knows my late Grandfather, which is unlikely admittedly, I would be interested to know which Royal Navy fleets operated in the Indian Ocean using Durban as their base. My Grandfather said he was a torpedoeman in a submarine and that docking in India was frequent. He was reluctant to go into detail about him time in the war so I wonder if anyone knows which Royal Navy fleets served there - with particular regard to submarines.
