Thanks for the information from the diary - its actually very interesting as it confirms Harry Whiting's account, and mentions those involved in the incident which is exactly what I was looking for.
Yes, I would very much like the extracts from the diary for November if that's OK.
I'm not surprised that you hadn't seen the post on my site before as it's a relatively new one. I was unsure about Cecil's battalion initially as the CWGC gives it as 81st Siege Battery, but after I confirmed it as the 91st from the Medal rolls at the National Archives it became obvious who Harry Whiting was referring to in his account and I could update my site.
Unfortunately I haven't got a photo of Cecil at the moment, but I would be interested to see a picture of the battalion as I may be able to get hold of one.
