Thank you, I think that might help. Here is a link to his grave marker at Findagrave. When looking at this photo zoomed in, it appears to me to read the 34 DIV, not the 31 DIV as you stated. This would match other information on line regarding the 136 INF as being asigned to the 34 DIV...(See my other post). On the photo on this site I do not see the marking of "CFA", it is however mentioned on the page. Is there another marker other than the one shown..?

World War I
The 34th Infantry Division was created from National Guard troops from Minnesota, Iowa, the Dakotas and Nebraska in the late summer of 1917. It arrived in France in October of 1918 but was too late to see action in World War I as the war ended the following month. See photos of the 34th ID at Camp Cody, NM in 1918.

There is reference on this page that states "Fortunately, Minnesota's field artillery regiment remained intact. Redesignated as the 151st Field Artillery, it became part of the 42nd "Rainbow" Division where it fought with great distinction in France.

This page makes reference to the different "Batteries" of the "Field Artillary" and may be the answer to the "CFA" question. It may be in reference to Battery "C" of the Field Artillary or CFA.

If nothing else you can contact the Minnesota National Guard and they may be of more assistance.
