Starting Sept. 5, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

Jo:

1901-England Census:

name: John Garde
age: 24
when born: abt 1877
relation: A.B. (Seaman)
gender: male
where born: Ireland
civil parish: Vessels
town: Portland Roads
County/Island: Dorset
Country: England

he must have been in the Navy in 1901, and on a ship; there are also 3 John Gardes mentioned in the awards/medals of the Royal Navy; ages are not given, so can't be sure; 2 of them say 'from 1914-1920' WWI. Bet he's one of them; it also gives their serial numbers...
