The following inscription appears on the gravestone of a relative in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Bloomfield, NJ.

TEXAS
PVT 3 BN INF OFF TNG SCH
WORLD WAR I
JULY 16,1887-OCT 27,1945
What are the meanings of the military acronyms? How would Texas apply to NJ resident?
