In Reply to: Need WWI Draft Card for Doard Stanley, WV by Samantha Stanley of 9052

Doard Stanley b. April 1, 1900 age 18 living Hevaco, Kanawha Co WV. White, native Born, occupation-Miner for Corbon Fuel Co Hevaco, WV. Nearest relative: Lorine Stanley, Hevaco, Kanawha Co. WV signed Doard Stanley back of card:
Medium Height, Medium Build, Eyes Blue, Hair Brown, NO lost extremities of physical disability. Dated Sept 12, 1918
filed in Kanawha County WV

A LDS Family History Center has the microfilm to rent and you can print out a copy of image. Their FamilySearch.org Beta search is adding WWI card transcriptions, haven't done WV yet.

He is in the 1900 census as Dord Stanley and FamilySeach has him listed as Doard and Dord. 1910 it is just Dord. His mother's name is Lorena and in 1920 census Ancestry's index has it as Lovena and son Doard is listed as Howard and still age 18.
In 1930 census he is listed as Duard Stanley married to Belle abt 8 yrs. He answered NO to question if a Veteran of US Military or Naval Forces and since his WWI Draft Registration Card is Sept 1918 and the war "ended" Nov 1918 then that would be the case. Having a card does not indicate one was drafted or served. Not find a card may, as those already in the military did not have to file a card.

See if your local library has a subscription genealogy website available to use either there or allows registering for home computer access.

By the way do you know about
http://www.wvculture.org/vrr/va_select.aspx
it is WV Birth, Marriage and Death Indexs and scanned images of register pages and certificates.
Doard Stanley and Belle Hodge married Aug, 21, 1921 in Kanawha according to register page. Looks like mother's death information also online.
