Hi again,
It is apparent that I am not very good at this research thing and you have great skill.
Maybe you might lead me in another direction for information on my grandfather?
Grandpa was adopted by Joseph & Clara Belle Watt sometime after his birth 4/24/1885. I have been told that most adoptions were done between relatives? The natural parents were said to be McVeigh but I can find no link to a McVeigh family. Joseph's parents (James & Eliza) resided in Madison Co., OH. Joseph moved to and married Clara in Berrien Co., MI until their deaths in 1931. Both James and Joseph's families were notorious for taking in children. I can only surmise that my grandfather was born in MI or OH??
One major concern I can find no mention of him in any of the local records under Watt or McVeigh. There is, however, an Ettie "McVeigh" Watt (female)with the same birth date as grandpa. No record of her thereafter. At first I thought they just may have misunderstood or mispelled his name - then female popped up.

I don't klnow if they kept birth and adoption records (nothing local)back then but if you can pointe me in the right direction to find records of his birth and adoption I would surely appreciate it much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks again,

Paul
