Hi,
James F. Bridges was in H Company, 167th Infantry, (the old 4th Alabama) 42nd "Rainbow" Division. His company was commanded by Capt. Herman W. Thompson of Alexander City, Ala.
He was killed in the battle of Ourcq River--for the 42nd Division, its bloodiest day of the war.On the left flank of the 167th was the 165th Infantry from NYC, the famous Fighing 69th.
I am writing a book on the 165th and, in fact, I am now starting the chapter that deals with the Ourcq crosing.
Good uck with your own research. Please visit my web site at www.greyjacket.com.
