The information from the Braxton County death records for Stephen H. Nicholas shows his parents as J.S. and S.E. Nicholas. The information was provided by his son-in-law J.L. Speirs. (Joseph Speirs married Minnie E. Nicholas August 26, 1894)

The initials given for Stephen's mother may be correct but the initials of his father are not correct.

The Lewis County death records show George Nicholas, age 70, died on Buckhannon Run on October 20, 1866. His place of birth was Pennsylvania, the names of his parents was not known. His occupation was a tailor, he was listed as not married - divorced.
The name of the person furnishing the information was listed as Stephen Nicholas, his son.

The 1830 census of Lewis County lists two men with the name George Nicholas. Both had male children matching Stephen's age.

The Lewis County marriage records shows a George Nicholas married Sarah Pritt in February 1822 and a George Nicholas married Lawry Allen November 27, 1823.

BTW, I am not related to any of the families listed.
