The Upshur County marriage records shows on November 1, 1855 Stephen H. Nicholas, age 28, born in Lewis County, married Sarah A. Bailey, age 16, born in Page County, Va.

The 1870 and 1880 census records lists eight children with Stephen and Martha Nicholas.

The Braxton County death records show Stephen H. Nicholas, born June 12, 1827, a son of J.S and S.E. Nicholas, died April 13, 1898 at the age of 70 years, 10 months, 11 days. His occupation was a saddler.

The Upshur County birth records show Martha H. Nicholas, born April 10, 1861, a daughter of Stephen and Sarah A. Nicholas.

On September 5, 1880, Martha Ellen Nichols, age 19, born in Upshur County married Oliver Snider, age 21, born in Harrison County.

The 1880 Harrison County census records shows Oliver Snyder was a son of William and Harriet Snyder

The 1900 and 1910 census records lists nine children with Oliver and Martha Snyder.

The Harrison County death records show Martha Snider,born April 10, 1869, a daughter of Stephen Nicholas and Sarah Bailey, died March 9, 1932 (age 62 years, 10 months, 29 days) buried in the Elk View Cemetery. She was a widow. Spouse's name Oliver Snider. Information was given by Mrs. Bert Snyder
