Hinkle, Upshur County, WVA

My grandfather, Edgar Lindsay Layman was born in Hinkle in 1885. He married Nettie May Shreve in 1911 at the brides home in Hinkle. The problem is that I cannot find Hinkle. I have a 1895 WVA map that shows a Hinkleville and a Hinkle's Mills in Upshur county, reasonably close to Buckhanon. Hickleville shows up on my Microsoft Streets and Maps 2002 in the same place as on the 1895 map, but Hickles Mills as disappeared.

Can anyone tell me whether the ever was a just plain Hickle or was my grandmother using local shorthand for one of the longer names. If so, which one was it likely to be? Or was she just a little bit dotty when she wrote this down some 50 years later. If there was another Hickle, what happened to it? Also, what happened to Hickle's Mills?
