Preston County, VA was formed from Monongalia County, VA in 1818. The record you are seeking should be recorded in the courthouse in Morgantown, WV. Their records date from 1795 - the earlier records from 1775 to 1795 were lost in a fire. Preston records from 1818 to 1869 were also destroyed when an arsonist from Fayette County, PA torched the courthouse in Kingwood.
