Do I have documented Proof that George Wolfe married Catherine Barb? No. My, and other genealogical posting should be considered as directional indicators, in order to satisfy your evidence requirements, you must always do your own research.
As background information, my cousin R Doyne Halbritter was a lifelong Preston County historian. before his death in January 1976, he gave me a large number of files. This was before xerox and computers. Most of his files were 2nd and 3rd generation carbon-paper copies. It was an overwhelming accumulation. Since the first computers (We used a VIC -20) my granddaughters and I have been entering all this data into a huge database and trying to match things up. To be very honest we have records of 13 George Wolf's and 29 George Wolfe's. Some of these may well be the same person with duplicate records and we are matching them with Census records and other Vital Statistics.
The only reference I can offer is the Edward Thorp King book, SOME EARLY FAMILIES IN GRANT AND PLEASANT DISTRICTS, PRESTON COUNTY, WEST VIRGINIA, 1933. Beginning on page 98, under the Jacob Wolfe Family, King states that George Wolfe, born 1752 served in the revolutionary war and married Catherine Barb. King lists 9 children. If I wanted documents I'd search the Revolutionary War Pension records to see if Catherine applied for a Pension. I'd also rush to DAR and see what the DAR files on George had to offer.
(Remember DAR files are also guideposts, verify everything)
