Records for Preston County for 1795-1818 (prior to it becoming a county) may be found in Morgantown, WV which is the couny seat of it's parent county (Monongalia). Records from 1818 to 1869 were destroyed when the Preston County courthouse was destroyed by arson in 1869. Records from 1869 to present may be found at the courthouse in Kingwood.
