Re: Polk or Earl Stemple, Preston Co. WV

Jane, according to the LDS church gen files, Lafayette Polk, b 21 or 27 Oct 1844, was the son of John David Stemple and Margaret Pitzer. Two dates are listed for their marriage: 1821 and 1838. Given the birthdates of their children, 1838 appears to be the more correct date. John DAVID, b 17 Jan 1796, was the son of David Conrad Stemple and Eva Catherine Rinehart. (NOTE: There was also a John MARTIN Stemple, b 4 May 1798, son of Martin S. Stemple and Margaret Boyles, m Catherine Bischoff about 1822). Continuing along Lafayette Polk's line: David Conrad Stemple, b 1757, was the son of David C. Stemple and Susanna Lantz. Hope this helps. Incidently, I know Earl Clifford had more siblings than the one sister the LDS gen search shows.

Regards,
Gary
