I made it to Preston Co sooner than expected.
I checked all the deeds made by George S Pierce, Jesse S Pierce and John F Pierce. There were deeds made by the estate of Jesse S Pierce naming his heirs but, unfortunately, none for the estate of either George or John Pierce.
There was only one deed made by Samuel Wesley Pierce. It contained no clue as to his parentage or siblings.
I still believe Samuel Wesley Pierce was the son of George S Pierce and omitted from his household in the 1850 census or not living at home in 1850.
There was no will or fiduciary record for George S Pierce but his death is on record as Feb 10, 1880, age 88, married, old age, farmer, son of Samuel & Susan Pierce. This doesnít agree with his tombstone death date of Feb 10, 1881.
If there is an obituary for George S Pierce, it might name his children. Will check later. The obituaries of his children should name their siblings. Perhaps Ron Halbritter has information on George's children.
Do you have Samuel Wesley Pierceís date of death? Have you checked for a death record or an obituary for him? His obituary may be in the Preston Co newspaper also if he had siblings in this county.
Earlier in the week I was checking for obituaries in the Preston County Journal and by accident found one for Margaret Catherine (Sinclair) Knotts in the Apr 9, 1925 issue. It gives her parents names as Robert & Nineveh Sinclair and names her siblings (all deceased) as Mary Ann who married Wesley Pierce, Alex Sinclair and William Sinclair.
I made a copy of this for you. If you want the copy, please let me know your snail-mail address. You can e-mail it to me privately if you donít want to post it to the forum.
In 1999 I copied Robert & Nineveh Sinclairís tombstones in Mt Zion Cemetery, near Marquess, Preston Co as follows:
Dec. 12, 1809
July 18, 1890
(inscription on stone has mostly weathered away)
Feb. 18, 1822
May 28, 1892
This is Jane (Marquess) Sidwell Sinclair, second wife of Robert Sinclair.
Hope this information helps on the Sinclair side. Iíll keep looking on the Pierce side.
