Hi Vicki,

Your name seems familiar; have we corresponded before?

My grandmother was a Miller; her line was Daniel Webster, Presley N, Daniel Adam, Presley N, Daniel. A cousin of my dad's did a lot of work on the Miller family 20+ years ago (I have her notes), but she was never able to find much on Presley. (Turns out she searched carefully in PA but never in WV.)

Here is the info I have been able to find on Presley N. Miller:

Presley Miller was born 19 Jan 1885 in Winchester VA, the son of Daniel Miller and Barbara (Unknown). According to Daniel Miller Rev pension record, the family moved from Winchester to Fayette Co, PA (10 yrs), back to Winchester, back to Fayette Co (5 yrs), then back to Winchester, where Daniel died in 1825.

From work done by Helen Miller Robertson, Presley Miller appeared in 1810 Fayette Co about 16 yrs old. (I could not find that entry.) In 1811 a Presley N. Miller married Peggy Anderson in Monongalia Co VA. In Apr 1812 Presley advertised his tailor shop in Uniontown, PA newspaper.

Other census records for Presley N. Miller:

1820        Not found
1830        Fayette Co PA
1840        Fayette Co PA
1850        Preston Co VA
1860        Preston Co VA
1870        Not found

Presley Miller appeared on tax list in German Twp, Fayette Co PA in 1829, 1830, 1831, 1832, 1834, and 1835. The tax lists showed only 1 cow or 1 horse at a time. It did not appear that Presley was taxed for any real estate.

Probable Children:

William Miller - b circa 1812 in PA (1850 census)

Daniel Adam Miller - b 1813 in Fayette Co; m Sarah Franks of German Twp; to Holmes Co, Ohio.

Barbara A. Miller - b circa 1818 in Fayette, PA; m Foster Fisher; d 1858 at Intermont (from Preston Co VA Records 1853-1860)

Elizabeth Miller - b circa 1827 in PA; no other info.

Sarah Miller - b circa 1829 in PA

Louisa Miller - b circa 1835 in Fayette,PA; m John M. Martin in Aug 1856; possibly to Taylor Co.

In Oct 1860, Presley N. Miller (ag 75) and Margaret Miller (ag 68) were listed on VA census at Evansville, Preston Co. No further information.

It appears that both Presley and Margaret Miller died 1860-1870. Unfortunately, the Preston Co Courthouse burned in 1880's and all records were lost. Therefore, no probate records or property records in Preston Co. Also no known gravestones.

I can account for Elizabeth Seemer, Morgan Miller, and Alfred Miller; details of the other siblings are unknown. Presley's father Daniel Miller served in the Am Rev and lived long enough to collect a military pension.

If you have additional details I would be very interested in knowing about them. Hope there is some useful info included here.
