Welch family, Preston Co, VA early 1800s

I can place the family of William Welch in Preston County in 1820 and 1830 Census, and they may have been there in 1840, because they aren't anywhere else logical. Before 1844 they moved to Iowa. Does anybody have any information regarding this family? I'm interested in anything, including marriages. (My GGGGM was Mary Welch, who married a Bowman, so she interests me the most.)
