I have 49 pages of a word document relating to the Descendants of WILHELM ELROD. Both Wilhelm and his sister married children of Hans Bischoff and Elisabetha Schwartz. I am sorry, but I do not have the author, but the author has documented the sources used in the text of the document. Most of Wilhelm's information relates to the Elrods in N.C.

Generation No. 1

1. WILHELM3 ELROD (JOHN TETER2, ELROD1)1 was born Abt. 17071, and died Bef. 17681. He married ANNA BISCHEL1 June 14, 1736 in ,Prob.Lancaster c, Penn.1.

Notes for WILHELM ELROD:

!If this man was born before his parents came to america then he wa s born in
Europe. the list of people on the ship included Johan deter Elroot an d wife
and child. However he could have been born after his parents arriva l in
America ion 1709.

!On july 23 1742 William Elrod leaseed 200 acresfrom the Estate of his
Lordship's Manor:Maryland Records-Frederick County- Momococy Page 58

!William Elrod and William Elrod Jr., had 180 acres in Deep River i n Orange
Co. They sold out and went to surry Co. ,N. C. William Elrod Jr. w as the
right age to have been the chainman for the surveying and would hav e been
about 17 years old in 1754. He would have the right age to have the T ory
Colonel who managed to free a Whig Parriot from a british Prison ship , only to
be excuted later by a squad commanded by this former whig prisoner. a ccount
found in the book :Revolutionary Incidents: and Sketches of Character s,
by Rev E. W. Caruthers, pub. 1854, Philadelphia, by Hayes and Zell, 1 93
Market St. and available in the Rowan Public Library, Salisbury, N. C .;
This Whig was Col. Thomas Dugan and Col William Elrod had twice save d him from
being put to death by the British;

! John Teter Elrod was had many spellings of his name.Johan for John . Teter

Notes for ANNA BISCHEL:
[Indiv2.ged]

! Wilhelm Elrod and his sister, Ann Elizabeth Elrod were both mar ried
14 June 1736,by the same Preacher in the same place.Wilhelm to A nna
Bischel,Ann Elizabeth Elrod to Heinrick Bischoff, descendants o f Heinrick
Bischoff were later called Bishop. The marriage of these 4 by th e same
man at the same date in the same place suggests that it was a do uble
wedding. It also suggests that they were brother and sister mary ing
sister and brother. Their names are spelled so near the same that
actually were the same misrecorded.

!if she was the mother of the Tory Col. William Elrod she was still a live when
he was killed in march 1882 See notes on Col. William Elrod.

Children of WILHELM ELROD and ANNA BISCHEL are:
       i.       WILLIAM4 ELROD1, d. March 17821.

Notes for WILLIAM ELROD:
[Indiv2.ged]

! Col William Elrod was the right age to be Wilhelm's child. This Tory
Col.TWICE saved the life of a whig patriot when he was about to be ki lled
as a prisoner of war.Col William Elrod was later executed by a squad
commanded by and with the knowledge of this whig , whose life he ha d saved.
This whig Col. whose life Elrod saved, was Col. Thomas Dugan.

! Wilhelm & Anna Bischel Elrod had a son, William Elrod jr.They had 1 00
acres in Deep River,Orange Co. N.C. They sold out and moved to Surr y County
N.C. William Elrod Jr. was a chainman for a surveying team in 1754.I t is
probable that William Elrod Jr. and Col. William Elrod were the sam e person.
