Hi,

I am the gggranddaughter of Jesse Monroe Johnson of Preston Co., W.Va. I know he served during the Civil War but I cannot confirm what unit. I have found a Cpl.Jesse M Johnson listed in the 6th WV Cavalry, Co. C, Cpl. Jesse Johnson in 2nd WV Cavalry, Co. L, Jesse Johnson in 1st Light Artillary, Btty. H, Jesse Johnson in 51st PA Infantry, Co A and Jesse Johnson in the 77th PA Infantry, Co. G.

I have heard that he was a prisoner at Andersonville, Ga., but I haven't found him on the rosters. I do know from my aunt that his widow, Elizabeth J. (Freeland?) Johnson recieved a pension until her death in the 1920's

Any help would be appreciated.
