I have Matilda Holcomb as dau of Timothy Holcomb (1756-)and Elizabeth Griffin (1755-) and wife of Roger Gum
Roger Gum is on the 1840 Bath County census:
0-0-1-0-3-1-0-10-0-1;0-0-1-1-0-0-0-1 : Timothy Holcomb, age 85, RS pensioner. There are several other Gums on the 1840 census. One, an elderly Priscilla Gum. If I had to make an educated guess, I would think that this Priscilla was either mother or grandmother of Roger.
I don't have a marriage or death date for Matilda Holcomb Gum.
I also have a sister of Matilda Holcomb, Elizabeth Holcomb ,married to Ezekiel Alderman.
Ezekiel was son of Daniel Alderman and Thankful Griffin.
Matilda and Elizabeth were dauhters of Timothy Holcomb and Elizabeth Griffin. I've often wonder if Elizabeth and Thankful Griffin were kin.
