Thank you for answering, We have very little information on our Clay Simmons, his name was supposed to have been Clay Raymond Simmons ( and maybe he was a Jr.).. the story as told to the family.. says.. he was born abt 1901.. and that his parents died when he was very young.. one when he was two, and the other when he was abt 4.. and that he was raised by a John and Mary Fox..for a while and then sent to an orphanage in ?? maybe Ind. He never talked about his family, and never visited anyone that was kin to him.. except one time. when he went somewhere ( he said to KY),, someone had died and he went to settle an estate, did come home with some monies, which he bought new furniture and many other things, that would have been about 1928-1930.. Clay died in an accident in Knox. Co, TN in 1937..does any of this fit with anyting on the Simmons?
Jackie
