Hi Linda,
My Grandmother was Bessie M. VanMeter. She married into the Ross Family in Allegany Co.Md. She was born in Mineral Co. WVa. Her father was Issac Lucas VanMeter Born in Petersburg WestVirginia,( Pendleton Co.) August 21, 1861.
His father was Philip Harrison VanMeter who was born in Pendleton Co. around 1825. Married Sussanah Porter. They were listed in the Grant Co. census of 1880. Pendleton Co. in 1850. This was acording to the family Bible. Two weeks ago , I received a e-mail that may have answered my question. It appears that Philips Father was Jesse VanMeter. Jesse's Father being a Henry VanMeter. No mention of spouses.
Thanks again for your info. If I come across anything elese I will forward it on to you. Steve Hunt (Manassas Va.
