Kate: It really, really is a small world!! We, too, are related to the Maddys! My wife's grandmother is Cora Frances Maddy b.Monroe County 02Dec1873, daugh of Wilson Maddy. We have been working on this line for some time and have hit a brick wall with Ann Morris, wife of James Maddy Someone told me that your Great Aunt's book indicated that Ann was the sister of Robert Morris, financier and signer of the Declr of Independence. We have not been able to substantiate this. In fact, I can't find anything on this couple except that they bought and sold 2 tracts of land in Orange County, VA (where they were supposed to have been married in 1791), one of which according to deed records, incorporated their home. I have James b. England in 1768 and Ann b.? 17Nov1740. The most recent land sale recorded is in 1771, yet family lore has that a short time after James Drowned in the Shenandoah River in 1783, Ann removed to Monroe County with her 6 children. A little later, she returned to Orange to settle James' estate. What estate?? I hope you can help clear some of this up. (By the way, I'm visiting Monroe County on July 11th with my two teenage grandaughters. let me know if there's anybody to whom you want me to say "HI!"). You should talk to Thummie Dunn. She told me her husband came from around Peterstown and that her daugh attended a Dunn reunion there recently. You'll love conversing with this gal. She is somethin' else!! Your cousin-in-law, Bill Sharpe PS Your jkross@yahoo.com email address didn't work. Are you using another? Notify Administrator about this message?
