There is a stone in Peterstown Cemetery which used to have the original inscription of "F.M." This was in a row of graves where Fielding Meadows was buried - he was a son of Francis Meadows (c.1754-1836) and Frances Bush. It was surmised that this ("F.M.") was the grave of Francis Meadows (c.1754-1836) but no one has ever produced ANY evidence to substantiate that theory.
Several years ago the stone was desecrated by someone who inscribed "Frank" underneath the original letters "F.M." A few years after that a large stone was erected (I believe at the behest of Pauline Haga?) with all of the information pertaining to Francis Meadows being a veteran of the American Revolution. Recently someone has added another stone next to that one stating that Frances Bush Meadows, wife of Francis Meadows, is buried next to him.
IS THERE ANY EVIDENCE TO SUPPORT ANY OF THIS? If so I wish the people putting these stones up would share the evidence with the rest of the descendants of Francis Meadows and Frances Bush. As a descendant I appreciate the effort someone has made in getting stones produced and erected IF the information is genuine - if it is not, however, I believe they are doing a real disservice to all researchers who try to PRODUCE EVIDENCE for our conclusions.
Will the people responsible for these stones PLEASE produce the evidence???
