Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum
message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles
will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will
no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.
I'll be at the courthouse a few days in Nov. & Dec. 2004, weather permitting. I'll see if I can find anything there on him and reply back to this forum. No charge. You may email me any additional details if you think they would help to email@example.com and make the subject line "Monroe Co, WV" so my spam catcher won't throw it out as junk. They have really good records, pretty detailed too. If not in Monroe, he may have been born in one of the neighboring counties since there are Diddles in all of those bordering WV counties (Summers, Greenbrier, Raleigh, and Mercer) counties presently. One other place you might try if you don't find the info in WV is to check the pre-civil war records in Augusta County, VA or the Commonwealth Bureau of Vital Statistics in Richmond, VA. A lot of WV records show up there since all of WV was once part of Augusta County, VA.
