My Thompson family was settled on Rich Creek before 1819 when my Gr Gr Gr grandfather Simeon Riner married Mary "Polly" Thompson daughter of John Thompson. Lots of Ballard marriages with the Riners of the 1800's. Not sure which John Thompson I am descended from as there are a few possibles and no real proof to figure out which one. Name patterns are a good clue to the Riners descended from Polly Thompson and George just isn't a name that appears except after 1900 in one of the many Ballard/Riner marriages.
