I've lost my great-grandmother, Mary Frances Collins, in 1860!!.
I've located her parents, Addison C. and Harriet P. Bowyer Collins, two older brothers, and a younger sister in the 1860 Census for Scott County, VA, but my ggranny was not with them!
I am following through with the thought that perhaps she stayed behind with grandparents or aunts/uncles when her family left the Mercer/Monroe Co. WV area after the birth of a daughter in 1859.
Her parents were married in 1853 in Monroe County. I am fairly certain that her mother was a daughter of Jacob and Mary Reid Bowyer of Monroe County.
I know for sure that Mary Frances and two other siblings were born in Mercer County, from 1854 thru 1858. Another sister listed Mercer Co. as her place of birth in 1859 (found in Russell Co., VA marriage records), but I have been unable to find that birth in Mercer, so it could have been in Monroe.
I would sincerely appreciate it if someone using this forum, who has an 1860 Census for Monroe Co., would do a look-up for a very desperate ggranddaughter.
As I mentioned earlier, I believe her mother, Harriet, was a daughter of Jacob and Mary Reid Bowyer, so I'm hoping Mary Frances might have been with them or other Bowyer relatives in 1860. She could have possibly been with Collins relatives because I believe Meredith Collins (wife Lucy), found in the 1850 Mercer Co. census and in Monroe Co. in the late 1850's, could have been related to Addison Collins.
Any help with this search will be greatly appreciated.
