Many many thanks for the Taylor info. I am going to call one of my relatives and see if this rings a bell at all. I have never come across the name of Sampson Taylor but I am also just getting started on this line. It sure looks like the right one and it is a great start. Sometimes it pays to take a shot in the dark. Your Ruby F. Lilly is my Ruby. Ruby Faye Lilly was my grandmother, a wonderful lady. I have that census info you listed as well. In fact, that is about ALL I have on that family. I can't seem to get past Rufus and Minnie. Here is what I do know though: Rufus Ballard Lilly was born abt. 1887 and died 19 Sept 1927. He married Minnie Jane Cox in Raleigh County 5 June 1907. Minnie Jane was born 14 April 1887 in Summers County and died 21 Dec 1968 in Mercer County, Princeton, WV. After Rufus died, she remarried a man named Clarence Pate. In my mother's marriage Bible, it says that Minnie's parents were a Daniel and Lisa Lawson. Supposedly Daniel was her stepfather though and his last name may have been Baker. I don't know for sure though. You have the names of their children from the census. Thelma was nicknamed "Pootie" and married Earl Bryan. Mildred's nickname is "Mickey" and her 1st marriage was to a Mr. Bailey and her second was to Johnny Marrone. Mary's nickname was "Mamie" and she died when she was seven years old. Pansy married a Mr. Burcham. Ruby Faye Lilly as born 6 Dec 1914 in Sylvia, WV. She married Gilbert Hampton Taylor, son of Herbert and Mexie Taylor. Mexie was adopted supposedly by a couple with the last name of Taylor. They had 2 children: Shirley Ann Taylor James b. 24 Feb 1938 and Wayne Gilbert Taylor (my father), b. 7 Aug 1941 d. 13 Dec 1997. Ruby died 13 June 1988 Cabell County, Huntington, WV. I have a lot of information on the siblings of Ruby, just not her parents. But I am working on it. I would love to know how you are related. Thanks again for the info!
