I have very little on that line of the Rader's, mine is through Mariah Rader. What I have on James is the following:

James Rader,
b. 14 February 1822 in Mason Co., Virginia (probably in what is now Ripley, West Virginia)

m. 13 Feb 1832 in Jackson Co., Virginia (now West Virginia)
to Catherine Cunningham

She b. Abt. 1821 in Kanawha Co., Virginia (now West Virginia).

4 children known:

1. Isaac Martin Rader, b. 30 Jun 1845 in Jackson Co., Virginia (now West Virginia)

2. Mildred Rader, b. abt. 1847 in Jackson Co., Virginia (now West Virginia)

3. George W. Rader, b. abt. 1849 in Jackson Co., Virginia (now West Virginia)

4. Edward C. Rader, b. abt. 1851 in Jackson Co., Virginia (now West Virginia)

is that correct? I'd love to learn more about them and their descendants. I was wondering what do you have in way of documentation on the parentage of your James? and if it mentions that Mariah was his sister or the child of Joseph. I have had the hardest time proving Mariah's parentage.

The only thing I have that proves it is this scanned copy of a page out of a bible and a scanned copy of the cover of the bible that another cousin, through Bennett Rader, sent me (not the publication date as the person that owned the bible didn't give that page to her <crys>). It is supposed to be from the bible of Alton Clyde Rader, son of Lewis Allen Rader, grandson of Bennett Rader, great grandson of Joseph Rader. <just for your reference, yes your James is listed in the page she sent me, the date I gave above came from the record> I can send that to you if you want it.

Do you know that you are eligible to D. A. R. if you have yourself proven back to Joseph with documentation? I've just applied for membership. If you want a copy of Michael W. Rader's revolutionary War pension it is available on my webpage.

I am currently doing major rewrites of the Pickerell / Rader / Dennis / Sims lines on the webpage. I went from 20 to 109 pages of notes on the Pickerell's. . . a lot of these pages are on Mariah's descendants but not all of them. I wanted to get them up by the end of the week and I may still do that, but things have majorly come up and I still have so much to do on them. I might just put up what I have so far and work on them more so that I at least have a lot of it up. I haven't decided yet.

my website:

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~elyandra/index.html

Michael's Revolutionary War pension is in the page that is loaded when you click the "Current Project" link. Soon I will change that to "Revolutionary War Records" and the current project will change. I think I have most of the information on the Pickerell's that I will be able to find so I am planning on putting them on the back burner and working on the main sidelines that hit into that line. AKA Hitt, Rader / Reader / Roder, Simms / Sims.

I can send you what I have on Michael's family and Mariah's line if you want.

Just drop me a line at my email. k. let me know.

Jeanne M. Howell
