Hi all Dont have much information. Just a Vernie Helton moved from Webster CO. KY to Big Sandy. I think this is one of the descendants of Tom Helton in Webster. If so we are kin, jefferson Helton m. Nancy E Hampton in Monroe Co. TN and was killed in the Civil War. We found a death Certificate for Thomas that gave us this information. ANy help greatly appreciated. Jefferson was one of 24 boys with 16 of them fighting in the civil war. Here is the only lead I can find on line of a Helton from Webster Co. KY. Dont know for sure he is ours. Ellis HELTON, 47, who formerly lived near Clay, died at 12:15 a.m. Saturday at his home in Sturgis. Surviving are the wife, Edna; three sisters; and a brother, Vernnie Helton of Big Sandy, W. Va. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Sturgis, with the pastor, the Rev. I.L. BAUGHN, officiating. Burial was in White Oak cemetery.
