Hi Judy,

I too am interested in researching the Billings family and am doing well with it but I wanted to ask you after seeing your name here in this forum; Are you related to a woman name of Mahala Light Billings"?

She lived just prior to the civil war years and moved with her family, the Henry Billings Family, from Tipton County, Tenn to Jackson County, Arkansas just prior to 1837. Henry Billings passed away in Tipton County in 1837 after his family had already moved to Arkansas. Evidently he had come back to Tenn to move household items that the family needed and passed away there. Anyway, he had a daughter name of Mahala Light Billings. She was only 15 years old in 1841 a few years after her father passed away in Tipton County. We discovered that she had to petition the Jackson County Probate court in Jackson County to request that the court appoint her a Guardian because she was an underage legal Heir to her father's Will.

My primary focus is Mahala Light Billings, I noticed that your last name is Light and the two names "Clicked" in my noggin.

Would be a pleasure to talk to you, Thanks, Tom
