William Turner and Sarah Elizabeth Ferry migrated from East London to Marshall Co., VA (now WV) in the 1840s. They may have had as many as 12 children, but some never show up in Marshall Co.

Sarah Turner, b. 1818; m. unknown PRICE (and is mentioned in William Turner's will) Cannot find in Marshall Co. censuses

Caroline Turner, b. 1820; d. 1821 (in London)

Josiah Turner, b. 1823; m. Elizabeth Marsh; d. 1886 in Marshall Co., WV

Jonah Turner, b. 1823 (may not be a son of William and Sarah Elizabeth) OR may be another name for Josiah

Eliza Turner (b. 1826; m. david Karr; located in 1860 Census for Marshall Co.; but not 1850

Alfred Turner (b. 1829; m. Mary A. G. ??; Officer in the 5th NY Vol. Regt. during the Civil War; shows up in Marshall Co. in the 1880 census

Samuel Turner (b. 1831; m. Sarah Jane Davis; in Marshall Co. in 1850 and later

William Turner (b. 1833 in London; no other information)

Emma Turner (b. 1833 in London; no other information)

James Turner (b. 1834 in London; no other information)

Louisa E. Turner (b. 1835; m. Joseph Baird; in 1850 Marshall Co. census)

Mary Ann Turner (b. 1837 in London; no other information)

QUESTIONS: What port would immigrants have used in the 1840s before comming to Marshall Co.?

Did immigrants have to file for citizenship in the 1840s, 1850s and 1860s? IF so, would the records be available someplace and where?

Bill Muller (married to a Turner)
