William Turner and Sarah Elizabeth Ferry migrated from East London to Marshall Co., VA (now WV) in the 1840s. They may have had as many as 12 children, but some never show up in Marshall Co.

Samuel Turner (b. 1831; m. Sarah Jane Davis; in Marshall Co. in 1850 and later
William Turner (b. 1833 in London; no other information)
Emma Turner (b. 1833 in London; no other information)
James Turner (b. 1834 in London; no other information)
Louisa E. Turner (b. 1835; m. Joseph Baird; in 1850 Marshall Co. census)
Mary Ann Turner (b. 1837 in London; no other information)
QUESTIONS: What port would immigrants have used in the 1840s before comming to Marshall Co.?
Did immigrants have to file for citizenship in the 1840s, 1850s and 1860s? IF so, would the records be available someplace and where?
