You don't say where the deaths occurred, but the following are possibilities for further information:

There could have been an inquest into either death. There may have been autopsies. Such records may be available through the County Coroner / Medical Examiner's office.

If someone was criminally charged at the time of either death, you can go to the County Criminal Court and purchase a trial transcript. And inquire about depositions that may be in a case file.
