Looking for anyone who may be able to contribute any information concerning the murder of Hawkins (Hawk) Bishop, who was murdered in Logan County West Virginia on 10-8-1933. Two men went to trial on murder charges, but both pled not guilty, and the last information I have been able to locate while in Logan County this week has been that they were trying to get a appeal. The data I got today at the Logan court house shows the last date as being 11-17-1933- and then I could find no more information.
I'd also like to find the descendants of Hawkins Bishop- he had one son named Warren Bishop (found records that lead us to believe his full name may have been Warren Hawkins, or Hawkins Warren Bishop), Stella Bishop (married a James Murphy in Rowan County, Ky) Mary J. who married Luther Gilmore in Pike Co Ky, later moved to Williamson W VA, two other daughters that I can't recall first names of- one married James Layne, the other married a W.A. Mitchell. Stella- who married James Muprhy, is shown at the time of his death as being in Charleston, her name still shown as Stella Bishop, so not sure if this was before or after her marriage- if after, obviously, either she was widowed or divorced. I am still on the road as I post this message, I can update with a few more details (what little I had) on his children when I get home in a few days. Please feel free to write privately or post here if you have any information on Hawkins, his murder, his descendants, etc.
We are also hoping to find his grave in Ashland KY tomorrow, newspaper clippings show that he was taken to Ashland for burial after funeral servies at his son's home in Logan.
Thank you in advance.
