Hello! This message is directed to anyone from the communities of Sod, Sumerco, or Alum Creek, WV. I am interested in learning some local history from around the 1900's - present.
I am also interested in learning more about the following people (these may not be spelled right): Shellburn Watts, Noely "Mutt" Owens, Dixie Owens, Cleston Mays, Samuel O'Dell Dunlap, Garnet Clark, Reva Jane Hilbert, Bob & Bessie (Hanson)Young, Leander & Laura (Arnold)Young, Henry & Malinda (Ronk)Young, Emory McCallister, and Lowell Neal.
Also, if anyone can get some specific directions to the cemetery on Ivy Branch (I have been told there are 2 up there) I would greatly appreciate it. I am trying to find Hayzlett Cemetery on Hayzlett Fork near Garrett's Bend Road as well. That cemetery isn't marked so I can't figure out which dirt road it is on.
Just one more request,,,I am desperatley trying to find a copy of a book I think was written in the 1960's called "Cobb Creek Church: The first 100 Years". It may have been written by a fellow named W. C. Holstein, who at one point was Lincoln County superintendent of schools. I believe my great great grandfather (Henry Young, above) was pastor there for about 3 years, or at least preached there a few times.
Thanks to all who can help! -Lisa
