FRED BURTON BUCHANAN, 83, OF CHARLESTON, died Feb. 24, 1991, at home after a short illness. He was a former new car salesman for Royal Oldsmobile and former employee of the Public Works System of the city of Charleston. He was born in Greenbrier County and lived in Charleston most of his life. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a recipient of two Purple Hearts and two Bronze Stars. He was a member of the committee for the Charleston Comprehensive Plan and a member of First Presbyterian Church of Charleston. Surviving: wife, Frances Minsker Buchanan; son, Burnard B. of Lesage; daughter, Sue Buchanan Latterner of South Charleston; sister, Virginia Buchanan James of Charleston brother, John R. of Charleston Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wilson Funeral Home, Charleston, with the Rev. Douglas Heidt officiating.
