I've learned several things from you today and gotten new ideas - thanks!
I THOUGHT one of the words I was unable to make out was Guardian but wasn't sure and, knowing that Charles was 20 when he married, I didn't think he needed a Guardian - obviously I was wrong. :)
I've been looking into the few Harrison County records I've found online (just began looking there yesterday - there are probably dozens of records I've yet to locate) and found a Hiram Cooper who, on the surface, looks promising. He is living in the correct state and county, married to 1 Nancy Cummmings and 2 Drusilla Shaver. This Hiram had a son named Hiram, and a daughter named Hannah (I've yet to find dates). Totally circumstantial but well worth checking into.
One of the reasons I use Genforum is that I have come across very few judgemental/critical people but many who are warm, generous. and helpful. Thanks for being one who falls into that second category!
