James,
There was a John W. Davis who served in the Rev War under
General Wayne until he was severely wounded by a sabre wound. He had emigrated to America from Wales, England when he was 10 years old. After the war he settled at Hardy Co, Va , we assume it was in the Grant Co section of what was then Hardy Co as two of his daughters married Bradford boys,
Peter & John Bradford who lived in what is now Grant Co. The
girls were Nancy Ann Davis b1791 at Hardy Co, and Sarah "Sally" Davis born b1790. there were sons two that went to Muskingum Co, Ohio after the war of 1812.
John W. Davis was born at Wales in 1755, his wife Margaret Barton b1766 at va went to Muskingum Co, Ohio too.
there may have been Davis children that stayed at Hardy Co,
as a Bradford child did to farm the family estate.
John W. Davis was the son of John Davis b1729 wales, you would assume he came to america as John jr came when he was
10.
