In reading your post I noticed the name "Miles Simmons". I am researching my line of the Simmons Family who possibly at the time frame you mentioned were living in Randolph or maybe Pendleton Co.
My Grandfathers middle name was Jordan "Miles" Simmons.
His Father,Hezekiah Simmons moved to Pocahontas Co about about 1845-1846 from Randolph or Pendeleton Cos.
I cannot find any info on Hezekiahs family who remained there either. Do you have any idea where the name "Miles" could have come from farther up the line? Maybe that could help us both.
thanks
Claude Simmons
