The Lutheran Church records have been very helpful. Many were not destroyed and for what was the Kingdom of Hannover, duplicate copies can be found at Hannover, Germany in the church archives. If there are successful hits you will be furnished with photocopies of birth, marriage, death and confirmation records which are a rich sources since, dates, places of worship and residence, parents, witnesses and sponsors are given where applicable and sometimes additional notes, e.g. the confirmation record for my g.grandfather has appended that family emigrated in September1848. Immediately below the identical note appears for another communicant and they showed upon the same ship entering New Orleans and the 1850 Census for Washington County IL. There is a charge but it is reasonable and well worth the investment of <$100.
