In the Weist line, might you have a strain around La Crescent, MN, or across the river at La Cross, WI? I have an uncle, William Carl Weist, who was born in La Crescent on 29 Mar 1915 and died on 6 Mar 1942. He was buried in Southridge, MN. I visited there as a child and I sort of recall that his father worked at the Red Wing Shoe factory, but I have no other details.
