The Wrigley family is a tremendously extensive family in Saddleworth, the name Joseph appearing often in the 18th & 19th Century. However, if your family came from Shelderslow, which was tiny hamlet then and little more than a street now with the old buildings still standing, then they were only a stones throw away from Stonebreaks where Joseph Wrigley (1711-1781) owned a mill. Saddleworth Historical Society have printed a copy of a report that appeared in the Oldham Chronicle in 1879, outlining the daily accounts of this mill. Refer to www.saddleworth-historical-society.org.uk. My partner's gg. grandfather was a Joseph Wrigley b.about 1830 in Shelderslow, but I haven't been able to tie him to the brothers Joseph, Benjamin & Thomas Wrigley (partners in the mill) and sons of William Wrigley.
